seems that the curios name of this church (dall'Orio) was born
from the tranformation of the word lauro (laurel) as once there
was one close to the building.
Interios has a latin cross plan with one nave and two aisles and
a wonderful ship's keel ceiling but the most important aspect
of this beautiful church is surely that San giacomo da l'Orio
owns the larger number of works of the Venetian Renaissance: Episodi
della vita di Gesù by Andrea Schiavone, Allegoria della
fede e I Dottori della fede by Veronese (new sacristy),
the San Sebastiano that is probably the Marescalco's masterpiece,
the Flagellazione by Tizianello (Tiziano's offspring) and
many paintings by Jacopo Palma il Giovane.
