InVeniceHotels has run continuously since 2002. It started as a paper-and-fax reservation service out of Mestre, on the mainland end of the Ponte della Libertà, working with about twenty small locandas across the six sestieri. The website launched later that year with a hand-drawn map showing who took bookings when.
The 2002 start
The original goal was practical: help visitors reach the right hotel without paying an OTA prepayment two months out. In 2002 that meant faxing reservation slips to a locanda in Cannaregio and calling back to confirm. Today it means a direct-booking form on partner hotel pages, with no card up front, and a one-working-day reply window.
What we do today
An editorial guide to Venice hotels, sorted by sestiere. Ninety-two hotels tracked. Six sestieri hubs, three island hubs, one mainland comparison. Walking minutes to the nearest vaporetto stop on every hotel page. Direct-booking partner service where the hotel wants it; Booking.com and Expedia affiliate widgets on every page as a fallback, always disclosed.
How we’re independent
No paid inclusion in editor’s picks or in any shortlist. Direct-booking partner status is not a ranking factor. Sponsored partnerships are limited to four slots, labelled at page level, and never used for hotel inclusion.
Who writes
The InVeniceHotels editorial team. No named bylines: the voice is the brand, and it has been the brand since 2002. The editors are based in Mestre and Venezia.
